God states in His word that if we give, it will come back to us: pressed down, shaken together and running over (See Luke 6:38). Our staff were in awe of Amira’s* story as she shared of what happened when she gave from the little she had and watched God multiply it before her eyes.
Amira is a believing, Arab widow whose husband passed away when their only child was very young. She lives in East Jerusalem where God’s light in her life shines brightly. Being without the support of a husband, she has had little means to live on. But God has helped her to be faithful with what she does have.
An organization has regularly given a small portion of food to help Amira and her child get through each week. Amira took what was given her and began to set aside anything that was left over until it doubled. Seeing that she had extra, she sought for another family in need to give to. As others began learning of her gifts of kindness, they too wanted to bless her with more until the amount she was receiving had multiplied.
Amira continued to give. She visited Bedouin women who are desert nomads without much contact with the world. She gave them massages and nail treatments just to extend love through physical touch. She is truly serving the Lord with any means she has and is a present day example of Yeshua’s story of the widow who gave to the Lord:
“Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.” -Luke 21:1-4
We first met Amira through our regular meetings with single mothers throughout the country. On one particular occasion, we asked the group if anyone would like to give to other single mothers in need. Amira gave. She said, “I want to be the first one to give to others in need.” This beautiful heart that God has given to Amira makes us so joyful to be able to give to her as well. Since we learned of Amira’s situation, we have been able to bless her with food vouchers so she can buy the groceries that she really needs. Amira desires to be able to help many more people. Please pray with us that God will continue to make that dream possible.
God bless you as you serve the Lord and do the will of our Father in heaven.
