Oil For One

Last night I woke up at 4 in the morning. Everything in me desired to roll over and continue sleeping. But I couldn’t. I knew why I was awake; God wanted my attention. He was looking for me. Pushing against my tiredness, I got up, and began worshipping God out loud. As I worshipped, the presence of God filled my room and touched my heart. His love surrounded me and I felt His pleasure. Tears streamed down my face as the Lord began to speak to me.

“Spending time with Me is one of the ways that you fill your spiritual lamp with oil,” He said. “And no one else can give you oil but me.” He reminded me that one day, Yeshua will come and whoever has oil will go into the wedding supper of the Lamb. But whoever does not, will not be able to buy the oil from someone else, because the oil that we receive comes from spending time in His presence. It’s personal! Think about it. How can we buy the presence of God from someone else? How can we buy the anointing of the Holy Spirit?

“Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut. Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open up for us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour. – Matthew 25:1-13

The five wise women were prepared, they knew Him and He knew them. But the foolish were unprepared for His coming. They were out oil and out of time. And the Father said, “He did not know them.” How do we know God? By spending time with Him. In His word, and in His presence.

My question for you today is this: Are you saying YES to God when He calls you to come and be with Him even in the middle of the night? Are you consistently filling your lamp with oil? I want to encourage you today to seek after the presence of God and to keep on seeking, so that when the time comes, you will be ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb and He will say of you, “this one I know.”

Blessings from Jerusalem!
